Fun ideas for one-on-one time with boys
As the boys are getting older we are finding they are seeking out more one-on-one time with us. We also know that give it a few more years and they mightn’t want much to do with us (for a while). Life is going past so quickly and is way too busy.
So this weekend, we are splitting up and heading off on separate adventures. I am heading off with our youngest to discover the incredible Lamington National Park in the Gold Coast Hinterland, while hubby is taking our oldest to Brisbane to seek out dinosaurs, the solar system and the bright lights.
It got us thinking. What are some really fun ideas that anyone can do that will help them to create some amazing memories and get to know their boys better? With no pesky brothers or sisters around. No friends or other family. Only one parent. Just you and him heading off on an adventure for a few hours or a few days.
We came up with these 18 fun ideas for spending one-on-one time with your son.
- Go for ice cream
- Explore a National Park
- Story time at the library
- Head to a big game – football, cricket, basketball, whatever you both enjoy
- Go miniature golfing
- Take a bike ride
- Go bowling
- Go on a dinner date
- Explore the museum
- Catch tadpoles
- Take a learn to surf, cook, or draw lesson, or other thing you would both love to learn
- Go fishing
- Head to the science centre
- Spend a day at the beach
- Pitch a tent
- Discover the local wildlife centre
- Climb trees
- Build stuff together – go cart, planter box, bird feeder
The possibilities are endless but we hope we have given you a few good ideas to go out and do with your boys.
