Best books for boys on a road trip
Beating boredom on your next road trip can be hard, but with these brilliant books, you’re sure to fill in some time.
Reading in the car can be tricky. With the constant distractions from others in a confined space, and the movement of the car, it can be hard to concentrate. For that reason, instead of giving you long juicy novels for your boys to sink their teeth into, we have some tried and tested books packed full of interesting information to engross them but still easy enough to read in the car.

Digital books – Best books for boys on a road trip
We love taking the Kindle away with us on holidays. It means the boys can take lots of books without taking up precious room in the car.
Rather than going to the expense of buying Kindles for everyone in the family, we have one Kindle and put the Kindle app on the iPads so we can have all the books on each of our devices. That way there’s no fighting over who’s reading what!
Did you know you don’t need to buy a kindle to be able to use the Kindle reader? You just need to download the free app on your iPad or Andriod device. It gives you access to over 4 million books and magazines. Take a look at the Kindle store to see if you love it as much as we do for travelling.
Here are a couple of digital books your boys might like.

Audio Books- Best books for boys on a road trip
If your boy doesn’t like to read or gets motion sickness, then reading a book is probably not the best option. But don’t worry as there are alternatives they may love. Download audio books or order an audio book on CD that you can all listen to. If it’s a CD for everyone to listen to, make sure you are going to enjoy the story as well, or it will drive you crazy.
Here are a couple of our favourites to get you started.
Double Down: Diary of a Wimpy Kid (CD or Audible download)
Haven’t found a book here that you think your boys would be interested in? The best tip we can give you is to work out what your boys are interested in (sport, wildlife, aliens, computers, etc) and search for books on that subject. We love using bookdepository.com for paper books and Amazon for digital books. If you can’t find something you like, head to your local bookstore and ask them for some recommendations. If their staff are really knowledgeable, you’ll be amazed at what you’ll find.
